Light Jet

RGB OUTPUT INFO

In an effort to expedite job production and ensure job quality, it is suggested that all order be submitted per the following specifications.  Submitting unprepared files will add additional system time and may incur additional charges.  Please be sure to fill out all order form information.

File Submission
In order to more easily understand submitted jobs and to guarantee that all necessary elements to produce the job are present, please organize your disk into four folders labeled:

  1. Print folder (actual file to be printed)
  2. Fonts folder (any fonts used other than standard)
  3. Supports folder (if supports are used in print files)
  4. Do Not Print folder (files that do not pertain to order)

Helpful Tips for Vector files
Proper setup of your vector files will enable us to RIP them into high resolution RGB TIFF files for LightJet output.
  • Submit your files in the application's native file format.  Please specify the version used.  (ie: Quark 3.32, Corel 7 etc.)
  • Set the document size to your desired output dimensions.  If your application doesn't support the page size you require, make it proportional to the final size.  (example:  if your final dimensions are 36x48, you can set the size to 18x24, 9x12 etc.)  Indicate your page size and the final size on the front of this form.
  • Provide a B&W or color printout of your file.
  • Include a copy of all fonts used toher than the standard PostScript fonts or Truetype fonts supplied with MacOS, Windows or those provided with your application.
  • Set the output resolution settings in your vector application's document set up to the highest possible value.
  • Set blends, gradients or fountain fills to the maximum number of steps, usually 256.
  • Do not rely on cut and paste.  If your EPS import contained fonts, please supply those fonts.  If your software does not save imports within the file, please provide all imported files.
  • .Placed scans in your page should be saved as RGB tiff or if you have saved paths, RGB eps files.  Scans left in CMYK mode will appear over saturated with high contrast.

  • See scan resolution recommendations below.
  • When placing images in vector applications such as Quark, it is best to crop, skew or rotate the image as necessary in the original application before placement to avoid excessive file size and additional postscript time.
  • PMS colors vary between applications and output devices which could produce different results on photographic materials.  If your file contains color critical CMYK files or PMS colors, we recommend an approval before your print order.  Remember that colors may not reproduce as seen on your monitor printer.

Helpful Tips for Raster files
All files will be previewed in PhotoShop before printing.  Files which are not properly setup will incur additional cost.
  • For direct output of raster (bitmap) files:  Supply files in RGB TIFF format (.tif), uncompressed and without any extra channels.
  • Set page size to final output dimensions required.
  • Files for LightJet 2080 film output are plotted with the longest dimension horizontal, so rotate your images to landscape orientation if possible.

Resolution Recommendations
Scale the dpi of your scans based on the following resolutions.

If your desired output is:
  • 4x5 film neg or trans-
400 to 600 dpi at a page size of 8x10
  • 8x10 film neg or trans-
800 to 1200 dpi at a page size of 8x10
  • Color print or Display Trans up to 48x50-
150 to 300 dpi at the final output size desire.

Additional Costs/Turnaround
  • Special handling charges may be added to your order to deal with incomplete order forms, missing files (fonts) and other problems that require corrections and additional preparation before output.
  • Complex or oversized files, which require significant processing time, may incur additional cost and/or turnaround time.
